(More customer reviews)Works fantastic! No cord to dance around! Always being one to check/read customer reviews, for some years now I have gone with DeWalt 18v tools. Unlike some other brands that have some outstanding cordless tools and some not so good tools in their lines, DeWalt almost always gets good marks. So far, I have not been disappointed in either quality or performance as expected. DeWalt, as usual, has another cordless winner here. Having the same tool Mfg'r also means you can share the batteries and chargers. A couple of battery packs will drive drywall screws all day long.
Owning several DeWalt 18v tools that were supplied with batteries and chargers, I did not need additional batteries; or chargers; or the kit boxes, so I opted to purchase the bare tool from one of Amazon's third party sellers, Max Tools, (DeWalt DC520B) for a substantial savings.
The DC520KA is fast and efficient for driving screws. I have bad shoulders now so it is a bit heavy for overhead work for me (I use a DeWalt corded model), but certainly managable if you are an average homeowner or a pro and only want to use one drywall gun. The gun is pricey, but thats DeWalt for you and you tend to get what you pay for.
If you're a homeowner that may do some serious drywalling once or twice in your lifetime, this package may be too expensive for your needs and a simple, cheaper corded model may be the way to go if $ is an issue. (See my review of the corded DeWalt DW272 screw gun as a possible option.)

Kreg C-WHT White Plastic Caps (50-Pack) Review

Well, I did figure out why the pegs don't always fit the hole very well - The pocket hole jig is adjustable to accomodate wood that is 3/4" thick up to 1 1/2" thick. This dramatically changes the depth of the hole. If your hole is drilled into 3/4" wood, the pegs do stick up quite a lot. They fit perfectly into a hole drilled into 1 1/2" thick wood.
The solution is really simple though - just trim the peg a bit before you put it in the hole. You don't have to cut the slanted end, just the nearly flat end that rests against the head of the screw. With a little experimenting, it is easy to eyeball the correct cut that will bring the peg into a reasonable sanding height. It isn't ideal and I'd much rather have pegs specifically designed for 3/4" stock but they certainly aren't impossible - it beats making the whole plug from scratch!

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased 1 contractors pack and 3 individual packs of the undermount decking product called Deckmaster. I have installed them on my new deck and am hoping that they work well. I did not know of the problems until after it was too late to change my mind.
I have the following complaints about the product...
1) The quality of the product in the individual box is inferior to the quality of the product in the contractor box. Even though the boxes indicate they are the same, in actuality they are not the same. The metal used for the rails is different and the screws are different, both inferior, in the individual box. To me this is dishonest at best but leans towards outright deceit. If I had only purchased the individual box I would have been cursing the product during the entire installation because the screws are terrible.
2) The screws are not long enough. I ended up replacing ALL of the decking screws because the kept stripping out the deck, even though I had the clutch on my drill set to a very low setting. There was only 1/4" to 1/2" penetrating into the decking and it was not, and is not, satisfactory. It cost me an extra $100 to replace the screws and if I had it to do over again I would not use the product for this reason alone. I would love to ask for a rebate but I know that request would fall on deaf ears.
3) The methodology outlined in the instructions does not produce a satisfactory amount of available screw holes where the rails meet. The instructions should indicate that the rails need to overlap a bit.
4) The front and/or back edge of the deck also needs to have the rails attached if the decking is to be adequately attached. The instructions and website should reflect this.
5) Two screws is not enough to hold down the decking. I used 3 screws at every joist in order to ensure that there was adequate staying power. The kit should contain enough screws for this and the instructions should indicate this.
Overall, I believe that the product will work well but only because of the modifications that I made with the longer screws and the additional number of screws used. However, I am disappointed by the dishonesty displayed in the quality differences between the same product (contractor pack vs individual pack), and I am beyond irritated that I had to replace the screws.

Good thing they send extra screws, about 1 in 10 was blocked with ACQ coating. Decent product. If this were a customers deck easy charge double labor of what you would think.

Cepco Tool IF-A500-018 Invisi-Fast Hidden Deck Fastener 1/8-Inch Spacer Kit, 500-Piece Review

1. They're hidden (duh)
2. No hole (screw or nail) at all in the top of the joist; they attach to the side of the joist. Joists, at least potentially, may last longer.
3. A breezy to replace a damaged deck board or boards. This is a big advantage over other hidden fastner systems! And, for that matter, over top fastening.
4. Relatively less expensive than most other systems. There still not cheap, but then neither are quality top screws.
5. Provides an important job for the 300 lb lard arse that can't do anything fast. He/she is perfect for standing on the boards whilst they are fastened from below.
6. Responsive customer support; a knowledable and helpful real person answers the phone.
Cons:
1. Takes more time than nailing or screwing from the top. How much more depends on how well you want or need to line up the nails/screws that will show. Could be less time if perfectly layed out nails/screws are spec'd.
2. Takes more time than some other systems--maybe less if you have to biscuit or notch.
3. If there is not space to get below the deck, screwing up from the top just isn't fun....
4. Requires two people (preferably one that is err... large).
Bottomline: It's a reasonably priced solid product. And with use, you get faster with it. A plywood track and creeper (with pillow, like auto mechanics use under cars) makes "below" the place to be. Works very well with cedar decking.

(More customer reviews)I did research this product and thought it was a good system but it didn't take long to realize that this product is very difficult to work with. Very time comsuming and back breaking to install. The plastic tabs that set on top of the beams squeak when you walk on them. Half of the screws (square head)will not fit the drill bit. I decided to take up the entire decking(15x64) and reinstalled with the Mantis hidden deck fasteners. Much easier, cleaner look, not squeaking.
I have hundreds of Invisi-Fast fasteners that I will probably throw in the trash.

(More customer reviews)I am so glad that the salesman who sold me the Azek decking also showed me this tool. I admit that I am not that knowledgable about deck fasteners, but wanted the look of the hidden fasteners. Since I live near the ocean, I knew that I had to go with stainless steel, and the prices that I had gotten on other systems (for an 800 sq ft deck) were through the roof. I was just about to give up when he showed me the Camo system.
It made sense, was suprisingly easy to get used to, and we have already made great progress (80% done), with just 2 of us working on it for 3 days.
I agree with the other reviewer, it makes for a long day of bending, etc. But you get great results, and money saved over more expensive systems.
It's a no brainer to get identical spacing throughout the entire project, and it adds a professional look to the project that would have taken a lot more steps to accomplish without the tool.
Yes, at the end of the day, you wind up with a one trick pony tool...but I'll hold onto one, just in case other projects or repairs come up, and the other, well, there's aways reselling.
