(More customer reviews)I received the nail puller in what appeared to be a used condition. When I tried to pull a few nails (drywall, framing, finish and lath staples), it worked inconsistently on the staples and finish nails. It just slipped off the others. I am extremely disappointed in this item. It looks like a thoughtful design but is poorly executed. Additionally, there does not seem to be any way to contact Forrester directly. Their web site is terrible with only a picture of this product and that's it.
Now I have to return it.

Duckbill Deck Wrecker Review

(More customer reviews)OK...I saw the video on the Duckbill website and thought, "Hmmmm...seems like a simple idea that might save me some time." I went ahead and bought it and I'm glad I did!
With the Duckbill, I was able to rip up the deck boards on a deck that was over 1,050 square feet in just under two hours! The Duckbill made what is usually a tough job with a pry bar, super easy! The $60 pricetag was worth every penny in the time, effort, and energy I saved in removing all those boards.
One downside, it left the nails behind. Not a bad thing as far as moving the old deck boards is concerned, but I know the pry bar would do the same thing...so it's a wash.
I highly recommend this product if you have a large (or even a small) deck to demo.

Vaughan Bowjak Board Straightener Review

(More customer reviews)I used this product as well as the BoWrench tool from Cepco. The tools are distinctly different.
This tool, the Bowjak, depends for its stability upon a spur that is temporarily driven into a joist below deck level. Unfortunately, the treated wood that I used had its surface rather chewed up as part of the treatment, and I have not seen treated wood without this surface deterioration. Holes are rolled into the lumber surface, evidently to increase the effectiveness of the chemical treatment, but these holes, possibly in conjunction with the chemicals used, really decrease the integrity of the board's surface. It is the integrity of this surface upon which the spur of the Bowjak depends. I never used the Bowjak with substantial force, out of many attempts, without the spur tearing out of the treated joist. Its effect was thus limited to low-force bending. Possibly the tool was more effective with previous lumber treatments that didn't weaken the wood surface so badly.
The BoWrench by Cepco did not depend upon the surface strength of the joists and was much more effective, limited only by the bending strength of the joist (which was occasionally an issue). The BoWrench tool allows the builder to use leg strength to force the lumber straight, and was much more effective than the Bowjak; it never tore out of its position. I strongly recommend the use of the BoWrench, but I cannot recommend the Bowjak.

CAMO Marksman Pro Hidden Deck Fastening Tool Review

(More customer reviews)I am so glad that the salesman who sold me the Azek decking also showed me this tool. I admit that I am not that knowledgable about deck fasteners, but wanted the look of the hidden fasteners. Since I live near the ocean, I knew that I had to go with stainless steel, and the prices that I had gotten on other systems (for an 800 sq ft deck) were through the roof. I was just about to give up when he showed me the Camo system.
It made sense, was suprisingly easy to get used to, and we have already made great progress (80% done), with just 2 of us working on it for 3 days.
I agree with the other reviewer, it makes for a long day of bending, etc. But you get great results, and money saved over more expensive systems.
It's a no brainer to get identical spacing throughout the entire project, and it adds a professional look to the project that would have taken a lot more steps to accomplish without the tool.
Yes, at the end of the day, you wind up with a one trick pony tool...but I'll hold onto one, just in case other projects or repairs come up, and the other, well, there's aways reselling.

(More customer reviews)The BoWrench is the best decking tool I have ever used because its easy to use, and it doesn't mar joists like other ones. As a contractor that builds a couple of decks a year, this has paid for its self many times over. You can achieve proper gap spacing with out digging through the lumber pile for straight boards(if they exist anymore!). I would highly recommend the BoWrench to any deck builder.

A deceptively simple-looking tool, the BoWrench is a boon for both professional deck builders and do-it-yourselfers. The BoWench gives you a fast, one-person way to straighten decking boards. This is great, because decking material--whether redwood, cedar, or another, more exotic rot-resistant wood--is often warped, especially in 14- to 16-foot lengths.
