(More customer reviews)Construction thickness is decent - I'd say the glass is about 3/16inch thick. All 3 tops arrived undamaged in one box, each wrapped in a different cardboard wrapping - so i guess they improved their shipping methods. And of course glass should last forever outside - no rot or fading.
BUT
1. Height: The sides/bottom part under the angled part is only about 3/4 of the height what is shown in the picture, this makes them look a bit more horizontal/flatter.
2. Color problem: one of the tops is a medium dark amber - like what you see in the picture, but the other two are MUCH paler color. They very noticeably dont match the first one. They are more of a light orange than an amber, not nearly as nice looking as the first one. And i don't mean subtly different - they are noticeably different. Bad quality control in pigment mixing. Very disappointing.
3. Brightness: There is no mounting "flange" around the bottom of these. A standard wood post will slide all the way up until it hits the angled top part, so the whole cap will not really "light up" from top to bottom as pictured since only the pointy part will still be exposed to light. The base sides will be dark because of the wood behind them. Unless you build some kind of custom brace for the bottom to hold it up off the top of the wood post which is what i suspect was done for the photo.
I doubt that sending them back to get a matched color set would do me any good frankly and the shipping costs would be about the cost of the tops since they are heavy.
ADDITION two weeks later: I came out onto the deck this morning and one these glass tops had cracked in half and was laying in two pieces on the deck. I had placed it pretty tightly onto the wood post for a snug fit (no i didnt hammer it). But I still dont think it should have split like that. It was NOT due to a temperature swing, it was a mild night. It just fractured due to poor strength and the pressure of the wood. So i dont think this glass has been tempered(cooled) properly for maximum strength. So whatever you do, dont place these too snugly onto a post. I would also be concerned about places with extreme cold temperature swings causing contraction onto a tight post.
TIP: I put some thin copper sheeting (amazon has it) on the top of the posts under the glass. This causes the sunlight to be reflected back out of the glass making the posts look brighter and more coppery in the sunlite. Looks nicer almost like they are lit up :-).
