This book is a absolute joke. Trying to describe how bad it is would be a task in futility. Trust me you can learn more about construction by watching a few episodes of Bob the Builder.

Loft Conversions Review

Loft Conversions
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this book because I am looking to convert the attic on my home. I was looking for a book to give details about the construction and planning. I was greatly dissapointed in the lack of information provided in this book. First of all, it's written for people in Europe, primarily England, so be prepared to convert metric to standard if you live in the United States. The tips for building codes and general practices are also for Europeans and are quite inadequate for the U.S. ( and probably for Europe as well). The instructions and diagrams which show construction techniques are abominable. I found almost nothing of use in this book. If you are looking for help to plan and convert an attic, this book should be left on the shelf. You will find much more pertinent information by spending a couple of hours on the internet.

Findley's Rope Works Plus is the best book I've read on knots. The knots are well discribed and extremely well illustrated. The section on rope making is superior to all articles and books I've read on the subject. Highly recommend the book for novice rope maker.

Used this book several years ago on my first and only deck. It was recommended by someone at work, and since has made the rounds with all the people at work building decks, with positive reviews. I still get complements on my deck, in no small part due to this book. Highly recommended.

First, the book was shiped quickley and is in great shape.
The Book: The book has 10 great projects with easy to follow plan outlines. I am 65 years old and have been working with wood most of my life. If these plans are followed the structure will be cpmpletely safe for people to use and will last a lot of years with the only upkeep being a little weather proofing. I think the Teeter-Totter is a gteat unit most anyone can build with only few tools, can be moved anywhere in the yard, in the shade, out in the sun and kids love it. Thanks for a good book.

Carpentry & Construction Review

Carpentry and Construction

From tools to termites, this book is an excellent reference tool for the construction novice (the person who is a neophyte to the trade, yet yearns to build their own home). This is a fine jumping-off point to more trade-specific references. It has given me the confidence to build my own house, even though I can't swing a hammer without hitting my thumb. Detailed drawings and illustrations complement a text that works from the "ground floor" up (forgive the pun) to the finishing touches aimed at the asthetic level.

Start Your Own Home Inspection Service Review

Start Your Own Home Inspection Service

Buying and reading this book was a mistake. The author is obviously just a book writer and knows nothing about the home inspection service! That was clearly evident since I am a home inspector and there was nothing any novice inspector could learn from this book that they wouldn't already know. If you want to learn about home inspections then you have to buy a book written by an expert in that field - a home inpsector with many years of experience - not an author that writes books on random topics! There are other books that are far superior to this book. My recommendation is don't buy this, spend your money on another book.
